Von Maur Packaging Guidelines

The packing list must include vendor name and address, Von Maur's address, purchase order number, store number, style, color, size by store, total units by store, and merchandise description. The packing list should be placed in a removable pouch on the outside of one carton, not affixed to the shrink wrap or multiple cartons. Attach it to the outside of the last pallet or carton loaded onto the trailer in a pressure-sensitive plastic pouch.

Cartons must contain merchandise for only one Purchase Order (and one store, if pre-distributed). Multiple styles and sizes can be shipped in the same carton if the order specifies it be packed by store.

Von Maur requires all LTL shipments are on pallets. Pallets must be standard 48"x40".

The shipment method is based on the higher of the actual weight or the dimensional weight of all cartons within a shipment. Dimensional weight is calculated using the formula: H x W x L / 166, and always round up. There are no specific maximum or minimum weight limits mentioned solely for cartons.

For LTL shipments, the minimum weight is 120 lbs (actual) or 200 lbs (dimensional). The maximum pallet height is 85 inches. Options for heavier loads such as 5000 lbs or more would require volume shipping arrangements.

All BOLs must contain the following: - Complete Vendor name and shipping address - Carrier SCAC - Bill of Lading # - PRO # - 6-digit Purchase Order number - 3-digit Department number - Total number of cartons and total weight for each PO - Accurate merchandise description and freight class - Total number of pallets (if applicable) - The BOL should be marked "Collect." If shipping multiple POs on the same day from one location, they must all appear on one BOL and ship under one PRO #. For temperature-sensitive shipments, indicate "PROTECT FROM FREEZING" or "PROTECT FROM HEAT" on the BOL. For edible shipments, indicate "FOODSTUFFS." Initials and acronyms are not acceptable. A shipping manifest is not considered part of the Bill of Lading contract. All required information must be shown on the actual BOL, and its omission can cause the shipment to be refused.

GS1-128 labels must be scannable and located in the lower right-hand corner of the longest side of the carton. The bottom edge of the barcode should be between 1/2 inch to 1 inch from the bottom of the carton, and the outer edge should be between 1/2 inch to 1.25 inches to the edge of the vertical face. No additional labels should cover the GS1-128 label. If the carton is 6 inches or more in height, the GS1-128 label should be placed as shown in the guidelines. If less than 6 inches, it may be overlapped from the top to the side as long as the barcode is not folded.

Master Pack inner carton labeling requirements include the 6 digit Purchase Order number, 3 digit Department number, Store number, and Carton quantity. If the carton is small, labels may be placed on the top or bottom instead of the side. Packing slips must be in a removable pouch on the outside of one inner carton.

For cartons being shipped, GS1-128 or UCC-128 labels must be used, depending on the document version. These labels must be scannable and placed in the lower right-hand corner of the longest side of the carton. The bottom edge of the barcode should be no closer than 0.5 inches and no greater than 1 inch from the bottom of the carton, and the outer edge should be 0.5 to 1.25 inches from the edge of the vertical face. There should not be any additional labels or markings covering the GS1-128 or UCC-128 label. Any additional barcoded labels must be placed on the opposite side or blacked out. For cartons 6 inches or taller, place as specified; if less, the label may overlap from the top to side without folding the barcode. Non-EDI vendors must place labels on the side of cartons, with no barcodes or labels on the top. PO #, Dept #, and Store # must be permanently affixed or written on each carton.
