Costco Pallet Requirements

The maximum pallet load weight is 2,500 lbs.

• Pallet loads must be engineered to double-stack in-bound to Costco to optimize freight efficiencies.
• No pallet load may be taller than 58 inches, including 5.5 inches for pallet height.
• Layer sheets or caps are required between product layers when applicable.
• Stretch wrapping with corner posts and plastic strapping is required to secure loads.

Required pallet dimensions are 48" x 40" footprint with no overhang. The recommended footprint is 47.5" x 39.5". The minimum underhang pallet footprint cannot be less than 44" x 37".

Allowed pallet types are iGPS, PECO, and CHEP USA block pallets throughout North America. Only when iGPS, PECO, and CHEP cannot be used may Costco approve alternate purpose-built pallets, which require prior approval. GMA/grade A stringer pallets, CHEP stringers, CHEP Euro pallets, and corrugated or paperboard pallets are not accepted.

• The stretch film must be wrapped three times or provide equivalent performance.

Yes, SKUs can be mixed on a single pallet if the SKUs are separated by layer and not intermixed; the pallet must be fully cubed and wrapped with corner boards. All SKUs must be visible from the outside to facilitate quick receiving.

For mixed pallets, a label must be provided clearly noting the item numbers and quantities included on each pallet. Each e-commerce item number must be visible from the outside to assist with quick receiving. The label should identify all SKUs and quantities to facilitate counting and receiving.

Pallet loads of bagged products over 10 lbs must be unitized using one of the following three options:

• Option A: For automated production, use 1.2 mil one-side cling, puncture resistant blown film with a minimum of three layers around the bottom third and three layers on the top third of the pallet load; stretch wrap securely to bottom of pallet.
• Option B: Fully enclose all four sides of the pallet load with a corrugated shroud and stretch wrap the entire load to the bottom of the pallet; minimum 79 gauge stretch film wrapped three times; tie off bottom of stretch wrap to pallet.
• Option C: Place product in a corrugated tray maximum 40"x48" with a minimum height of 12"; stretch wrap pallet load to bottom of pallet using minimum 0.79 gauge stretch film wrapped three times; tie off bottom of stretch wrap to pallet.
