SKUs can be mixed within a single carton, but such cartons must be labeled "Mixed Merchandise" or similar to indicate multiple UPCs are present.

What are the requirements for Bills of Lading when it comes to pallet (freight) or carton (parcel) shipments?

Accepted Answer

For pallet or carton shipments:

- All shipments arriving by common carrier to one of Buyer's Warehouses must be accompanied by a Bill of Lading in the format prescribed by Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Solutions (VICS).
- The Bill of Lading must be clear and correct.
-The requirements for the Bill of Lading include complete details like ship from and ship to information, special instructions, customer order information, and carrier information. 
- It should have freight terms, special care or instructions, and a declared value statement if applicable.
- It should certify that materials are properly classified, described, packaged, marked, and labeled.

What are the requirements for carton or pallet labels and their placement?

Accepted Answer

Carton labels must include a UCC-128 Bar Code label affixed to the side of each carton of a Purchase Order with information such as Bluemercury, Seller's name and address, Buyer's store name and address, Buyer's store number, Purchase Order number, carton sequential number, shipper name, shipper carton tracking number, and UCC-128 Bar Code. The label must be completely visible and not overlapped by any other labeling. Additionally, any carton with more than one UPC must be labeled "Mixed Merchandise" or similar. UPS and FedEx shipping labels must read "Bluemercury, Inc" only in the Ship To Field, without store numbers or names. They must not overlap the UCC-128 Bar Code label or any other labeling on the carton.

Polybags, inner cases, and case packs must be labeled with the quantity and UPC of the items inside. Additionally, cartons containing goods with more than one UPC must have some method of organization to segregate UPCs, such as dividers, polybags, inner cases, or case packs.

For cartons being shipped, the requirements are as follows:

1. A UCC-128 Bar Code label must be affixed to the side of each carton and must be completely visible without being overlapped by other labels (Page 9).
2. The UCC-128 Bar Code label must include:
   - "Bluemercury"
   - Seller's name and address
   - Brand name if different from Seller's trade name
   - Buyer's store name and address
   - Buyer's store number
   - Buyer's Purchase Order number, which must be unique for warehouse shipments
   - Carton sequential number in the format "X of Y"
   - Shipper name
   - Shipper carton tracking number
   - UCC-128 Bar Code itself (Page 7).
3. All cartons with more than one UPC must be labeled "Mixed Merchandise" or similar (Page 9).
4. UPS and FedEx labels must read "Bluemercury, Inc" in the Ship To Field without additional store numbers or names (Page 7).
5. Shipper’s tracking label cannot overlap the UCC-128 Bar Code label (Page 7).
