Below you will find a common list of FAQs that our users have when it comes to packaging guidelines for Nordstrom.
Can you mix multiple SKUs per carton?
No. Nordstrom requires orders to be packed in single SKU cartons, so you cannot mix multiple SKUs per carton.
Can you mix POs in a single carton?
No, you cannot mix POs in a single carton. Each carton should be associated with one PO, and if you are shipping multiple POs, they must be listed separately.
What are the max dimensions and weights for cartons?
For Nordstrom/Rack Stores, cartons must not exceed 36 in. (L) x 27 in. (W) x 30 in. (H) and 50 lbs. For Nordstrom.com, the maximum size is 23 in. x 15 in. x 17 in. with a maximum weight of 40 lbs, and for Nordstromrack.com, the limits are 33 in. x 20 in. x 20 in. with a maximum weight of 55 lbs.
What are the min dimensions and weights for cartons?
Cartons must have minimum dimensions of 12 inches in length, 10 inches in width, 7 inches in height, and a minimum weight of 2 lbs (0.90 kg).
Where do I place the label on a carton?
For GS1-128 labels, the guidelines differ slightly by document. The DiCentral instructions require that the 4"×6" label be placed on the longest side of the carton, parallel to the carton flap, with the label’s bottom edge positioned roughly 1" from the bottom. For wardrobe style cartons (those over 36") the label should be placed in the top right corner. In contrast, the Nordstrom Onboarding and Packaging Standards require the GS1-128 label to be placed on the longest side with a minimum clearance of 1.25" from the bottom edge (and likewise for the outermost barcode from any edge). If the carton is too small to provide this clearance, the label should be placed on the top of the carton (ensuring it isn’t taped over). For non‐EDI carton labels, the requirement is to mark one end and one side with the necessary shipment information.
Where do I place the label on a pallet?
For GS1-128 labels (used on EDI shipments), you must affix a 4″ x 6″ label on the longest side of the pallet (or carton) so that the barcode’s bottom edge is at least 1.25 inches from the bottom as well as from the vertical edges. In cases where the shipping unit is too small to allow that clearance, the label should be placed on the top (without taping over it). For non‐EDI carton labels, the requirement is to mark one end and one side with the required ship‐to, PO, and other information.
