Are there any requirements for packing lists when shipping cartons?

All shipments must include two copies of packing slips. One copy should be attached to the bill of lading, and the other to the lead carton of the purchase order. If there are multiple purchase orders, each lead carton must have a packing slip for its respective order. Information that must be included on the packing slip: date of shipment, pro number or container number, the purchase order number, carrier name, style number, color code, total quantity by size, total number of cartons, and individual cartons by size.

Are there any requirements for packing lists when shipping pallets?

All shipments must include packing slips. Two copies are required: one attached to the bill of lading and the other to the lead carton of the purchase order. If multiple purchase orders exist, each lead carton must have a packing slip. A separate packing slip is required for each truck if a purchase order spans multiple trucks. Packing slips must summarize by style/color/size for each purchase order and include specific information such as the date of shipment, pro number, carrier name, purchase order number, style number, color code, total quantity by size, total number of cartons, and individual carton sizes.

Can purchase orders be mixed within a single carton?

No, purchase orders cannot be mixed within a single carton. Each carton must contain items from only one purchase order.

Can SKUs be mixed within a single carton?

No, product SKUs cannot be mixed within a single carton. Each carton should contain only one style, size, and color, unless authorized by the buyer or in the case of authorized assortments.

What are the max and min dimensions for shipping cartons?

Maximum carton size is 30" length x 20" height x 20" width. Minimum carton size is 12" length x 8" height x 12" width.

What are the max and min weights for shipping cartons?

The weight of each carton, including contents, must not exceed 50 pounds / 22.680 Kilograms. There is no specified minimum weight mentioned.

What are the requirements for Bills of Lading when it comes to pallet (freight) or carton (parcel) shipments?

When shipping more than one purchase order number or a shipment requiring more than one trailer, a single Bill of Lading must be filled out for each shipment or one per trailer for full truckloads. Multiple PO's must be shipped on a single Bill of Lading. The Bill of Lading must include: the Running Specialty Group purchase order number, carton count per purchase order number, and the total number of cartons.

What are the requirements for carton or pallet labels and their placement?

Shipping labels must be placed in the lower right-hand corner of the long end of the carton. A standard GS1-128 shipping label is required with a minimum grade quality. Standard labels should be 6" high by 4" wide, white with black lettering, and the preferred font size is 24 (minimum font size 12). If additional labels are needed, they should be placed next to and to the left of the GS1-128 label. The label must include order and product information as specified.

What are the requirements for inner packs and cases?

Inner packs should hold consistent quantities, have an additional bar-coded tag placed in the middle or outside of the inner container, and be visible for UPC labels. Master poly bags or boxes should be used for inner packs, with an additional UPC sticker. All items should be placed to ensure UPC labels face up. Inner packs should not exceed 50 lbs or the carton size restrictions. Consistency in quantity within sizes is mandatory, and merchandise should protect against concealed loss or damage. Inner pack cartons should not mix styles, sizes, or colors unless authorized.

What are the requirements for placing labels on cartons being shipped?

Shipping labels must be placed in the lower right-hand corner of the long end of the carton. A standard GS1-128 shipping label is required, with a minimum grade quality, and GS1-128 carton numbers must be 20 digits long. Standard shipping labels should be 6" high by 4" wide and white with black lettering. Font size 24 is preferred, with a minimum of size 12. If any additional labels (e.g., a carton content label) are needed, place them to the left of the GS1-128 label. Information does not have to be duplicated if it is shown near the label, such as carton markings. Use GS1-128 labels and a carton content label if required information cannot fit on the GS1-128 label.
