Are there any requirements for packing lists when shipping cartons?

Yes, packing lists must include vendor and shipper name, DPI PO number, SKU number/item number, order quantity, proof of delivery receipt, closed coded shelf life dates, accurate counts of cases shipped, number of pallets, accurate total gross weight, and Bill of Lading. The information must be affixed on the surface area of one side of one pallet.

Are there any requirements for packing lists when shipping pallets?

Packing lists must include vendor and shipper name, DPI P.O. number, SKU/item number, order quantity matching P.O. quantity, a copy of the signed proof of delivery receipt, closed coded shelf life dates, accurate counts of cases and pallets, accurate total gross weight including pallets, and bill of lading. Information must be affixed on the surface area of one side of one pallet.

Can purchase orders be mixed within a single pallet?

Identical SKU's must be shipped together on the same pallet unless ordered in greater or less than pallet quantities. Any identical SKUs shipped with mixed expiration dates must be separated at the time of delivery. Products ordered in even layers, as identified by Vendor, must be shipped in such layers. All shipments must be configured to DPI's "tie and high" standards upon arrival at the DPI Division. Vendor is responsible for all sorting and segregating charges for non-conforming pallets.

Can SKUs be mixed on a single pallet?

Identical SKUs must be shipped together on the same pallet unless ordered in greater or less than pallet quantities. Identical SKUs with mixed expiration dates must be separated at delivery. Shipments must conform to DPI's "tie and high" standards.

What are the allowed pallet types for shipping?

The allowed pallet types for shipping to DPI are standard 4-way GMA pallets size 40" x 48". DPI is a pooled-pallet participant with CHEP, which is the preferred pallet, and exchanges Grade B or better pallets with only one repair allowed per pallet. Broken pallets are not accepted.

What are the requirements for Bills of Lading when it comes to pallet (freight) or carton (parcel) shipments?

Bills of Lading must be included with all shipments, affixed to the surface area of one side of one pallet.

The packing list with the Bill of Lading must include:
- Vendor and shipper name
- DPI P.O. number
- SKU number/item number
- Order quantity (must match P.O. quantity)
- Proof of Delivery receipt
- Closed coded shelf life dates (interpreted with actual expiration dates)
- Accurate counts of cases shipped and number of pallets
- Accurate total gross weight, including the weight of the pallets

Pallet labels must include:
- Purchase Order Number
- Vendor Name
- Origin Information (Name and Address)
- Destination Information

What are the requirements for carton or pallet labels and their placement?
