Can I stack pallets?
Yes. When building pallets, stackable pallets should be created 48" high. The guidance recommends double stacking (using two 48" pallets) unless the merchandise is breakable.
Can you mix multiple SKUs per carton?
Yes, you can mix SKUs in a carton only if each SKU has 5 or fewer units. If 6 or more units of a SKU are ordered, that SKU must be shipped in a single SKU carton.
Can you mix POs in a single pallet?
You can only combine POs on a single pallet if they are going to the same distribution center. Do not mix POs destined for different DCs on one pallet.
What are the max dimensions and weights for cartons?
For single wall cartons, the highest category allows up to 80 lbs with a size limit of 105 inches (L+W+H). For double wall cartons, the maximum allowed is 150 lbs with a size limit of 120 inches (L+W+H).
What are the min dimensions and weights for cartons?
The guidelines don’t specify minimum carton dimensions per se; they set performance and maximum size/weight thresholds. For single wall cartons, the lowest category requires a maximum weight of 30 lbs with a size limit (L+W+H) of 75 inches, a minimum burst test value of 200 and a minimum ETC of 32. For double wall cartons, the lowest category requires a maximum weight of 60 lbs with a size limit of 85 inches, a minimum burst test of 200 and a minimum ETC of 48.
Where do I place the label on a carton?
For cartons shipped to Belk, the GS1-128 shipping carton label must be placed on the longest side of the carton in the lower right corner, with the label positioned two inches from both the right side and the bottom. If the carton is under 4 inches in height, the label should be applied on top. If the longest side isn’t long enough to accommodate the full label, it should be placed on the longest side and folded over the top.
